While the job market has been challenging in recent months /years, some fields are more open to hiring talents from overseas than others, in my experience. Here is my short list of industries for which I have experienced better and more open company/employer feedback in the past couple of months: (I think everyone would put the IT profession first) … Well, I do something else:IT
Programmers, especially those with full-stack experience, are in high demand. Java, JavaScript, and Python are some of the most popular languages employers are looking for.
Infrastructure jobs
New Zealand’s thriving construction industry is always seeking talented professionals, from construction managers to project managers and beyond, to help build the nation’s future.
Bakers
Bakers are in high demand, with many bakeries looking for experienced professionals. I met a lot of cooperative Bakeries here, and there are currently a few bakeries that would be eager to welcome bakers.
Engineering
Electrical and mechanical engineers are in high demand, especially those with CNC experience.
Plumber / Welder
Plumbers and Welders are also in high demand, with many employers looking for experienced professionals.
The job search here also requires much continuous work, but it is a little shorter than in other industries, and usually good and better offers can be obtained in a given time.
I experienced that finding a job from overseas is successful if someone does their homework and does the job search method thoroughly.If your profession is not on the above list, it does not mean you have no chances. The above 5-6 are the occupations/industries where employers responded more positively to our approach in the last few months.
Please note that the above list is subject to change as the market needs to change. For example, if other industries realize they can hire talents from overseas, which is not as complicated as they think, this list may change. However, for now, the above 5-6 occupations/industries are the most promising for job seekers.
